Anyone know where to find the Reno Payouts? I think AZ pulled the brackets, and there is no listing of the money finishers.

Double Dipped

No player likes to get double dipped, and I know Gabe is no exception to that. He is probably still thinking about those 2 sets ...

I remember one of the classic lines used to come from Coy Lee Nicholson when he would say, 'I am going to take you to Braums for a double dip!!!'...:rolleyes:
 
I could never be a pro player.it just doesnt pay enough.take ninth place for example.good show with 100 plus players and you get $700 .thats not even worth the trip out there.its such a disgrace that such a great sport with such talented players cant make a descent living.
you basically have to finish 1st or second in every tourny to make a good living.allison fisher and karen corr are probably the only duo that are consistantly doing that.my heart goes out to people that practise all day to play for peanuts.
 
It is pretty discouraging. Raul Alvarez is a Miami local shortstop. He was over in Nevada almost a whole week. He won two on the winners side and three matches on the loser side, getting knocked out double hill by Kevin Bennett. Hotel for 6 days, airfare, food and entry...and he got paid $375 for 17-24th.

tourny payouts

you have to just love the game and love to play with a good job to just play tournaments.you need to be a great gambler to make a living playing pool with out sponsors.if someone was to take a bankrool and just follow tourny trails and just play the tournaments he's more than likely gonna go bust.spend 500 to win 300 is terrible odds in my book.

It doesn't look like pro pool will ever pay enough to support the players who don't finish in the top 5. After expenses to travel and pay entry fees most players lose money.
 
I couldn't agree more. I played in Reno this last week, placed 33rd, and won $200. Needless to say, this did not cover travel expenses, food, entry, etc (plus I had my wife with me). The only thing I did with the $200 was pay for the hotel stay (the Sands only charges $21 a night Sun-Thur and $35 Fri/Sat for players).

I work a regular full-time job and I would never give that up to pursue pool as a profession. There is no consistent tour that pays out monies in a sum that would allow a top 20/30 player to sustain an average lifestyle. It's just not enough of a motiviating factor. And it truly is a shame as there are so many talented players.

On a side note: Literally a half-hour after my last match, I had an envelope waiting for me at the tournament desk with my money.
