USPPA Reno warmup in Mt. View, Ca.(California Billiard Club)
Not that big a deal nationwide as it is a handicap 9 ball tournament played prior to the Reno usppa and Reno Open. 80 some players showed up and it is interesting to note that there are some known names that do play in it.
I only have preliminary results as it is only down to the last 5.
Some noteable that got knocked out
Gerardo Jamito, Billy Palmer, George Michaelis, Billy Ray Suden, Joey Gebron, Jeff Gregory.
Tony Chohan still in and waiting to play for minimum 3rd place.
Hot seat is Colin Mazuca(sp)(redhead)lol
Guys left, Dave Vincent, Ernesto Reyes, and Ron Wishnack.

The warning: Ronnie Allen who was visiting and woofing is moving to Dallas Ft. Worth. Now I don't know whether that is a promise or a threat. He changes is mind every few days. He says someone offered him a job and although he says he quit pool he likes their weather and the people have more gamble. Might be true.

The story:
We got to talking with Ronnie, Poker Paul, and myself and this story came up and I LMAO, so I thought I would relay it. Ronnie and I go back to 1957
but I had never heard this one before.
He is in Tuscon hustling this guy with a backer and the guy is a real gambler and has built a pool room in his basement with a 6x12 snooker table, along with 2 other tables. So they get in this game where Ronnie has to shoot one handed with only the shaft of his cue and he cannot climb on the table, or use a bridge. They are playing for 30,000 and 500
on the hickeys. So Ronnie says in his Oklahoma drawl(and I wish you could hear it in person). "I wasn't about to give up hickeys when the cue was in the middle of the table so I took that damn shaft and threw it like a spear at the cue ball, it was amazing how many times I made a good hit"
Now imagine, man that is funny.

Oh and by the way, he took down the cheese.

That's pretty funny coming from Ronnie. Keep us posted on how the tourney comes out. I know all them guys and hope Tony wins it. Colin is annoying. Hope he gets drilled. :)

It's not happening

Finals, Colin and Shakey Dave Vincent in final, Dave has to win two sets, Colin is up 6-5 in first set, does not look good for Dave.

Colin won it .. not sure what issues eaglesfan44 has with Colin but I find him to be a very nice guy and a good player. I think he was playing at 117 speed.

Colin won huh? That is just me jawing because Colin and I used to play each other all the time. We kind of had a rivalry going for a while. So we would go back and forth at each other. That's all. Plus Tony Chohan is a good friend of mine so I was rooting for him.

I hope my friend Danny Petralba is in the money in Reno and Sacramento. Danny's playing some pretty awesome pool lately.

Can Ronnie still be playing good enough to woof at anybody, or is it just a bad habit?

Chris

He says he quit pool but he keeps woofing. So if he gets a game he likes he will get someone to back him. But he has got to constantly keep the act going, it is part of who he is.

Why would you say a warning? hIS GAME IS- GONE, CAN'T SEE, HURT BACK,TOO OLD,?????

I saw Ronnie play a bit today ... I wish I was that old, blind with bad back if it helps my 1-hole game!!!

TuCson, it's where I lived all my life before the military. The C before the S. Not to be nitpicky, but I've seen a few people spell it that way lately... and I'm kind of fond of the city.
