I'm building a small repair lathe and was curious as to how many RPMs I need just to do tips and ferrules The motor I have is 1725 RPMs and considering the pulley ratio at 1.5 which will give me @1150. Is this speed sufficient

Barely fast enough. A one to one pulley ratio would be better.

i ordered the one to one pulley if ever too much speed there is always the option of a potentiometer to reduce the speed
