Replace pin or retool thread?

I have a question that I'm hoping someone here can answer.

Would it be better to replace a radial pin for a 3/8 x 10 pin, or to retool the threads on a shaft with the 3/8 x 10 shaft to fit a radial pin.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Much easier to plug the shaft and re-tap it.
