Replacement Antique Slate

Hello and thanks for readings this post. I was wondering if anyone knew of anyone looking to sell a complete set of slate for a 10 foot Brunswick Arcadian that was given to me but in need of a complete restoration. The woodwork and leg rebuilding is in my scope of knowledge but unfortunately I was not informed that the 3 pieces of 1" slate have been stored outside on the ground for the last 31 years! Needless to say I dont want to abandon the project that i've vested a month and a half into but i'm not sure who even sells slate of that size and with the threaded nuts into the edge of the slate. Thanks Again and I really enjoy the information that can be gleaned from this site.

Antique Slate

Hi, I'm new here and have a little knowledge about antique tables. I have been helping a friend do restoration for about 15 years.
I have taken part in several 10 footers and have yet to see one with 1 inch slate, they usualy are 1.5 inch. Are you sure you have 1 inch slate? I'm sure you will have a lot better luck finding 1.5 for your 10 footer, this may be a hard search but I know they are still out there.
I will see my buddy in the next few days and see what he has to say.

Good Luck

I'm a little confused, unless they're broken, why would you consider replacing them?

Thanks for the responses guys. Chalkdust the pieces are definately 1" and Cobra the reason I need replacements is they have literally sunk into the ground, absorbed moisture and have split and begun to breakdown to were there is about 35% of the mass missing from all three pieces.

You can use any 10 foot slate because the Arkadian has rail aprons that will hide any work done on the rails. If rail bolts do not match slate plug and patch holes in rails and redrill to fit.

Contact Derrick at Billiard Restorations and tell him Mark from Houston recommended you. I bought (3) 10' Centennials from him last year and picked them up in Clay Center, KS. I've see first hand the warehouses full of old slate he has accumulated over the years and he will sell them at a fair price.

Thanks for all the help fellas , I will definately be contacting billiard restorations and inquiring about some replacement slates. As far as pictures of the slate that has been left outside for 31 years I unfortunately did not have my camera for that just have about a 100 pics of the table that was in the basement when it flooded in the 1980's then was quickly disassembled and left in a garage to rot. But hopefully the slate that I need can be found and I can get this table back together and enjoyed by myself and the family.

Well unfortunately billiard restorations didn't have any inventory he could part with but once again thanks Mark for the recommendation. So if anyone knows of any 10 foot slate set out there for sale let me know.
