I'm looking at potentially buying an Irving Kaye barbox from a coworker. I checked it out today and the slate is flat (someone told me it may sag over time) but the rails are pretty dead. The seller says they are probably the originals. To give a vague sense of its age, he bought the table used in the early 80s from his neighbors who I think also bought it used.
Some quick googling makes me think rails are going to run $150-$200. Is that about right? If so, that pretty much kills the deal as it is.
If I were to go ahead with this, I would get the precovered cushions (I don't care if the felt doesn't match). Is it easy as taking off the old ones and screwing on the new ones?
Thanks a lot!
