REQUEST - A "Board News" forum

I'd like to suggest that we need a "Board News/Board Information" forum setup. (I have seen this on other similar forums.) I'd suggest the forum be setup so only the Admins/Moderators can post there.

It should be the place that any discplinary actions are listed, along with the resons why so that all users will understand how and what rules of conduct are being enforced. New users would then be able to learn from the mistakes of the past. I have suggested this to Mike a while ago and he did this manually on the main forum a few times, but this does not seem to be happening lately. My feeling is that educating users in this fashion helps avoid the unacceptable behavior that requires moderation in the first place. Without this information the board is becomes rife with uninformed speculation and gossip.

It would also be the ideal place to post information about technical issues, FAQ for common problems, information about upcoming changes to the board setup and scheduled downtime etc.
 
Not as a main forum sticky or a main page subforum, please. As long as it were off the beaten path, like the non-pool-related forum, I'm OK with it.
 
They have the beginnings of something like that with the forum leaders link. You can at least see who is banned, not why or how long (exception -Gremlin).

That's part of the idea, move that stuff to it's own forum to free up the Main Forum for actual Pool topics rather than board admin stuff. For example I'd have posted this thread there if the forum already existed, but then if it already existed I would not have had to post this in the first place. I need to go sit down now, my head hurts.

i think it's a very good idea.

we do currently have a mod forum for discussion between mods and admin.

i'm sure it could easily be set up and would help with the current lack of communication between forum administration and members.
