Restructuring the pro game.

For years I have heard people complain about the best players not winning tournaments due to format flaws.

I have also heard complaints about how tournaments are not viable business enterprises and are difficult to finance.

Well I have a suggestion. Why not structure professional pool like pro boxing. Let the pro game be a series of all around long race matches that are promoted by guys like TAR. Have a ranking system and let the players work their way up through the ranking system to win the world championship like they do in boxing.

It would be easier to put matches together because all you need is one table. You could have more spectators and with the players playing more than one discipline and you would definitely find out who the best man is.

Just a thought....

I am an avid boxing fan. I don't get to matches often. Franky pay per view and HBO etc have that locked up. Amature boxing??? There are not even enough gyms to train. I have lived in lots of different sized towns. When is the last time you saw a good boxing match. In person. I can watch players spar at any time of night or day mostly.

I think TAR was the first to recognize that players are always "matching up for action" and found a small nitch in the market to bring it to us via the internet.

My hat is off to them for that.

I also think the IPT jumped right on the band wagon and copied the TARs idea, but made it worse by turning it into a popularity contest (voting for the players). What "tour" does the IPT represent in the title of their name today? Zilch, zero, noda, thats what. Their business model failed, they downsized and are doing almost the exact same thing as TAR with a larger budget.

Would love to. But I am supporting a family of four on a teacher's salary. Maybe if I win the lottery. LOL.;)
