Not trying to imply anything about the quality of the book, the author, or the information presented, but have you taken the book to the table and set up the shots to see if the book helps you make them? That's the real test.

Sweet, where did you get it and how much. I might have to get that book figuring that my bank shot is not too great. :D

I have, and it does help a great deal. My consistency on some banks has improved considerably. I have not worked through the entire book, I'm just getting started with it (there's a LOT of material).

I picked it up recently too, I'm trying to wrap my pea brain around it. I'm certain I'll get some useful information out of it, I just wonder how much I'll be able to apply, a lot of it seems to be very specialized situations that might be geared toward bank pool and one pocket.

Amazon is one place. Freddy has a web site called bankingwiththebeard.com About $30.

I have it and have looked through it a bit, but have only tried a few of the shots {can't remember which ones, CRS}. IIRC, the ones that I tried were right on. Haven't had a lot of time to get back to it, with school.

I ordered the book direct from the Beard.

Having played the game for quite some time and having been around a pretty decent Bank pool player, I recognize some shots, some I could make before I read the book, I just hit em by feel, sometimes they went, the other 90% of the time I was off. The Book helped me understand why I miss some banks, and the reasons I have adjusted to make others, I didnt even know why I was doing some things and its crystal clear now.

that alone to me is worth every penny, I have been in a slump sort of with banks, I just didnt have any confidence. Finding out exactly whats going on to the T, man thats Priceless..

Yes, I got mine from the Bread and he was kind enough to write my name and sign his name on it.:)
I like it. I love the pictures very much, too.

I have and it does. I've had the book for about a year now and have worked on many of the things in it.

Now in a night of shooting, I find myself playing position for banks that I know I can make. Before, I avoided them at almost any cost and never tried to shoot position for a bank.

Highly recommended!

I ordered both books from Ebay and after reading them, I was not that impressed.

The stories were very interesting, but IMHO what would have been the better solution would have been a video. To put in a book hit this ball with low left english and it goes 2 rails is much easier said than done. A video (even a poorly produced one like the Bugs banking videos) goes a long way to helping understand the items and see how things work a little bit better.

My opinion is the exact opposite. I like instruction books over videos because books are much easier to reference at the table. Of course I have a bookshelf by my pool table, but no TV. :o

Dave, with a different stroke

I've had the book since it came out and have spent time with many of the shots on a table. Like everything in pool, there are variables. The book gives you a place to start, then adjust as needed. It is very good for that, although I do think a couple of the shots are off a little. But that could just be me, or the equipment.

It is most helpfull, to me, as a reference, when I play position off banks especially as I sometimes forget to balance the throw and english.

One thing I learned from the book, that I thought was great, was how to pick and target the second rail contact points. That has helped, especially 1p.

Mosconiac, are you implying that if he can't make the shots the book is bad?

Funny that this thread should come up. I just ordered a copy last week.
I can't wait to get at it.:D :D

I have taken the book to the table and it works to well. It has too much power in it for most mortals because it could make everyone a banking god.
