cant find any reviews
they say they are phenolic.

dont have to funds for aramith right now
wondering if these might be an option

Hello, icemanfred -

A few things first since this ball set is made of a resin and not phenolic - thus they won’t clean up or resist impact marks or prevent cloth burns compared to higher cost phenolic balls. They will play ok since they’re at regulation weights - but if you practice with these and then play league or local tournaments, you’ll notice a difference in how they play overall.

What price point are you talking for the Magnum ball set?

I’d suggest the Aramith Crown Standard ball set for best value and fantastic playability all around if you can justify the increased cost. There are a few reliable sellers on eBay for these as well as the usual web based retailers.

Hope that helps!

I offered up an unjust and slightly inaccurate description when I said they may not be “phenolic” resin - now that you’ve shared the technical description. The quantity and manufacturing prowess to obtain the results with any type of the resins that Aramith has done over the generations proves the challenges that surely exist for them to be made to exacting standards - and to be fair, there are very good examples of other makers of balls out there using resins with phenol and the like. It’s the magic art of creating the final product that most likely determines a ball’s overall quality - and to offer up any billiard ball set less than $100 retail is probably our first indicator of the quality one should expect. Again - not bad or poor - just relative to what a higher quality ball will get you.

If you like them - and more importantly - within your budget and grasp - they should serve you well. Perhaps a little more care over their life span but playability will undoubtedly be good.

Share pics when you decide.

On a parting note, icemanfred, due to my lack of attention to detail and not researching the balls you asked about before a haphazard and casual reply, my offer of making up the difference between the Level Best Magnums and a set of new Aramith Crown Standards is all yours SHOULD you want them instead of the Magnums - as a way to share my appreciation for ball sets in general - just say the word - and PM me your PayPal address for a New Year surprise bonus - and then order the Crowns.

No - I’m not joking.

*offer only good on a new set of Aramith Crown Standards and not credit towards any imposter set

Happy New Year.

I have checked ebay and the used sets look, well,...used
k2kraze that is a generous offer. thanks.

however, I am becoming more intrigued that I cannot find any reviews for these magnum balls.
that said, I dont want to be the guinie pig.
I will probably wait to get the aramith premium..

If you take care of your balls, they will las a lifetime.

Save your $ and do it right.

And I would be careful buying new balls from anyone other than an established retailer. There are counterfeits out there.

good point thank you black balled.
ideologist, that sounds too good to be true. where were they purchased, got pics

update::
I decided to go look at the arimith premium set.
more money than I wanted to spend right now.
since the one set they had was scratched..
they offered the super arimith pro for $200. I couldnt resist.
so much for trying not to spend alot. went over my budget but I thought it was a good price.
