This cue was made in 1991. I am the second owner and the original owner is a friend of mine who did not shoot with this cue. I am the only one who has shot with it and it is in pristine condition.I bought this cue in January 2013. It is straight together and apart. All white is ivory , snakewood and silver inlays.I was there when my friend bought this cue and Richard said that he made one similar for Eva Mataya. I have upgraded the wrap to a new old stock Cortland wrap from Pechauer cues.I would love to trade up or down and will sell it for $2999.00 shipped in the US only.Add 4% for paypal fees. Please read the letter of authenticity for other facts about this cue.Shafts weigh 3.5 oz and the butt weighs 16.7 oz. Cue is 58 inches equal split.

This is a email from Richard . As I have stated. There has been nothing done to this cue except the added Cortland wrap. This cue is pristine, 100 percent as delivered from Richard with LOA, Richard made the cue , sold it to my friend, whose name is on the LOA to verify everything.I bought the cue and am the only one to shoot with it.
Glen,
yes the butt screw is hex but a very soft aluminum that strips the corners very easy. It makes the cue as light as you’re going to get it – but if you want it heavier then you can go ahead and change it. It will probably be necessary to use and easy-out and then replace the butt screw with a steel one. You can add as much as 1 ounce with a steel butt screw. BTW your photos were not attached but I remember the cue.

The LOA says the cue weighs 19.75 ounces, but your weights of 16.7 and 3.5 add up to 20.2. Also, the LOA says length is 57.5 while your post says 58. Which of these measurements are the correct ones?

The cue is 58 inches equal split. I weighed the cue a couple weeks ago and that is what my friends scale showed. That LOA was made in 1991 and the cue was weighed then. I don't know how good the scales were back then, but that is what the weights are now.
Bumperoo to the top.

One poster pointed out the discrepancy with your description and Richard Black's about the cue weight.
As a cue-maker, Richard Black is known for being very precise and it's "highly" unlikely he wrote down the wrong cue weight of 19.75 ounces.

Ergo, browsers and prospective buyers alike are not necessarily doubtful about the cue being genuine but something just doesn't seem right.
Consequently, AZers mostly only view your thread and may not be inclined to make any offers when the cue weight information is mismatched.

Just a suggestion.....I would weigh the cue on several scales and see if you can verify the cue's accurate weight.
As long as the RB letter and the cue's actual weight are the same or at least match up very closely with the cue's true weight,
your sale thread should garnish better results. However, if your cue truly weighs 20 ozs. then something has changed with the cue and it is not original.
Rest assured, Richard Black would never be off 1/4 ounce heavy on the cue weight........Maybe a heavier weight bolt was installed by someone else ?

In any event, it's in your interest to confirm the cue's true weight and figure out why there is a discrepancy if indeed it truly exists.
After all, you might have just weighed the cue using an inaccurate scale so go figure out why the cue is heavier than Richard Black stated.
Your cue should weigh 19.75 - 19.80 ounces.........anything else just seems suspicious considering Mr. Black's letter of authenticity.

Appreciate the suggestion and observations. I bought this cue from my friend here in St.Louis, I was here in 1991 when he bought it from Richard Black. My friend has had this cue in his possession since then and nobody else has shot with it but me , when I bought it at the beginning of this year. I have added the wrap and the cue is still the same as it was in 1991.My friends name is on that LOA and he will tell you the same and if you get in touch with Richard , he will remember this cue and tell you he sold it to my friend .Thanks for the constructive critique and I do agree that Richard is super precise and is meticulous in everything he does. Have a happy holiday AZers.Peace
