Spent the better part of the day surfing the forums, digging for info on Rick Howard's sneaky Pete cues. Most info is older...and I wanna live in the now.

Anybody currently own one? Or have owned one recently (last year or so)?

Interested in your thoughts, opinions, comparisons, etc. The more I look at them, the more I'm inclined to try and find one (or order one).

Thanks, y'all.

Yep, I have one and it is awesome. I wanted a true sneaky so as you can see he did my request. He told me he had some awesome cocobolo and great birdseye. I told him the cocobolo is okay but I wanted straight grain instead of the birdseye.

It plays awesome. I can recommend highly.

I play a Rick Howard, not a sneaky but it's the best I've played with,,, and I've played/owned a lot of good cues.
I only have 3 cues now, my R Howard, a fancy sneaky by Bob Dzuricky, and my old McD e-series merry widow.
I've not played much with the Dz cue, so I can't compare, it's basically a new cue made in 2021.
My R Howard is from 2001, with the old signature!

Good to see you back sir. I second Ken's opinion, have 2 and both are great players. I don't think you can go wrong with one, they hold value pretty well for a sneaky.

Thanks, brother. Good to be back!

Anyone else with insight??

The best SP that I ever played - for me, is my current Schmelke SP that I specified all the specs- weight, shaft taper and diameter, tip, and joint screw- I include in my analysis my former Scruggs SP and probably 10 other SPs in my playing career. BTW - The Schmelke was $165 shipped to me as ordered- Bacote and straight grain maple

Best cues I've played with. I'm on the hunt for one now. I've texted him a few times this past month, but haven't heard back.

I sold my old custom RH on here probably 15 years ago, I wish I never did.

I had one once, liked it. Currently I play with a Joey sneaky or a bluegrass merry widow.

I own a Rick Howard sneaky. Birdseye maple, and Bacote. The guy I bought it from had the same cue in Birdseye, and Cocobolo, and I should have bought both.

Firstly, it's a great player. I didn't want to play with my higher end stuff, so I bought this for my daily shooter, and I am so glad I did. It's hits solid. I have the original shaft, a cuetec carbon fiber, and a Jacoby UltraPro (super). And they are all great, right now I am using the Jacoby UltraPro with a precision medium tip, and it is a BEAUTIFUL hit.

Second, Rick is a great guy. I accidentally cracked the bottom collar (where his signature is). Don't even know when, probably just out and about (one of our rooms has bare concrete floors). I texted Rick (his number is on his FB), he got right back to me, I sent him the cue, he fixed it (replaced the bottom collar), sent it back and only wanted $60 bucks. I think I Zelle'd him $100. The whole process took about a week.

He is out of Navarre Florida. I stopped in and played at Starcade Billiards in Fort Walton Beach (5 hours north) a few months back, they had a repair area set up with his banner up, I don't know if its his stuff or not, but id assume he stops in there every now and them. Never met him in the flesh, but I love the cue, and I would absolutely pick up another one if the opportunity every presents itself.

The ONLY con.... he uses a 3/8 x 11 Southwest pin. So if you geek out on equipment like I do, finding aftermarket shafts can be tricky.

But hey, you can usually find his sneaky's for $1k or less. GRAB ONE

Oh, BTW, my cue looks very similar to the cue in the link.

Love the look of the linked cues.
If I was in the market for a pool cue it'd be doing something like those
If you see my cue from more than 5' away, it looks like a stick of maple with a joint.
Look close and you see a butterfly splice and 4 very sharp points with 2 different pieces of maple.
Curly and BE.
