Okay, I have a question.
Why is it that there is so much talent out there amongst pool players, but some choose to stay in the shadows? I am asking because I know of quite a few who have done nothing but play pool all their lives, no work, just pool. Some have made a good living at it and some don't have a dollar to their names because of certain influences, but why wouldn't they want to become "known" and join the pro's and become sponsored? I just don't see the reasoning of wanting to stay unknown, but having the talent to be able to compete with the pro level players? Why would you not know whats nect or wait for a game to get set up when you could have your whole year planned out through tours and tournaments? Just asking to see if someone could help me think of other reasons I cannot see. Thanks, Damon

There currently is no reason to become known or a "pro". Johnny Archer isn't fooling anyone. If he wants to gamble, everyone knows how much weight they will need to beat him it makes it harder to make a game and for him to make a game he will like.

On the other hand, an unknown can get you in a game and rob you before you know what hit you because nobody knew who he was.

If there were money in pro events, you would see more people trying to reach that level. However, there just isnt much money. And for a low tier professional, its even worse. Missing the money at 40th doesn't pay rent.
