I was one of the lucky winners of Tom McGonagle's book, "Right On Cue". I have been meaning to buy it for sometime but for whatever reason I didn't, so when Tom offered to get it for free or buy it for the $13 shipped (bargain) I jumped at the chance. I would have won either way.

Maybe I never pulled the trigger because it was a 'fictional' story about a pool player while there are so many books out that recap someones true life stories while on the road. But I must say, this book was a good read!

The book is a little over 400 pages but it flowed effortlessly and had a little something for everyone, especially great gambling & tournament matches described really well, which is what I was hoping for - Tom did not disappoint. Clearly the book is a reflection of Tom being around pool for many years and playing at a high level, because it shows in all the great advice that is given throughout the book. Yes, you will learn some valuable tips as the characters interact with each other as Billy takes Johnny under his wing. There is even a nice love story or two with a few steamy love scenes and a villain. I liked it more than I thought I would and will recommend my wife read it.

Tom, thanks for the action and getting the book in my hands. I would have missed out an a very good book about pool if I never pulled the trigger and bought it. Best of luck with it.

Oh, and if it wasn't clear, I recommend it to you all.

I had a period n my life when I wouldn't read fiction..and I read a lot.
Then at some point I realized that more truth can be told if it is in a
fiction format.

Thank you pt. I agree with you. In this case, the fiction is easier to read so it's easier to get the information out of it. Hope you get a chance to read it.

I bought it about 4 months ago not realizing it was a fiction book. I NEVER read fiction. EVER. I did however read this particular book from cover-to-cover and enjoyed it immensely. It was well written, had good plot/subplot-lines, and the poolhall paragraphs were very believable.

I would recommend this book to anyone that plays pool and likes fiction.

First of all, Thank you 12squared for taking the time to write and post such a great review of my book. I really appreciate it.

Thanks also to: pt109, maniac and thommy for there comments.

I tried to write a story that would interest the general public and not just pool players. I personally feel, I did that.

If I wrote about my life in pool halls, it would have bored most of you. I wasn't one to hustle people and I didn't run around shooting my mouth off. I did do a lot of gambling but it was off in the corner of rooms and mostly in private.

So I made up characters, some of them from personalities I had come across that would fit the story.

I also included women pool players in my story. They're very popular in today's society and deserve the same recognition.

The game really needs a shot in the arm. A screen play is being written, right now, for my book. I'm hoping for a movie. At least I'm taking steps in that direction. I'd love to be able to show the world a better side of the game and the people that play it.

I'm about a 100 pages in and it's hard to put down. I try to read 2 chapters at a time or I'd spend the most of the day reading. So far I'm really enjoying the book and can't wait to see what happens to Johney on the road! Thanks again Tom.
