What do you'll think about this high stakes ring game?

6 Players put up 5G a piece, winner take all 30G

Players are Strickland, Corey, Alex, Wetch, Rodney, and Williams

It takes place January 16th at the Derby

I for one think this is awesome, I also hear through the grapevine this match may be LIVE on The Internet..

Voice Your opinion

Thanks
Brady

A ring game is... are you trying to hustle us? For the sake of it being not, a ring is where a number (3-X) of players compete in the same game, with the game or set of games with a value. What's going on at the Derby is a winner take all. In other words, one player left standing at the end of competition.
I too believe this is an excellent promotion and I wish the very best to all. Although I would put big money on this challenge; taking a very long time to an outcome. Then again, I do not know what the unit value of the format is, only the buy-in of 5K.
Anyone?

It's still a ring game. just with the stipulation that the players can't quit. It is really no different than most ring games where players play until they go broke. In this one all the players start with the same stake and they all know what they can win.

I just watched poker on TV and this guy named Moneymaker won it all. He wasn't suppose to win because he was the up-and-comer. He went head-to-head with a seasoned past-champion and juked him out of his socks! I'm hoping some of the interaction like this will occur in the ring game! It would be great to watch these players interact with each other as the game moves along. I sure hope ESPN doesn't cover it though! They'll cut all the interaction out and focus only on the shooting. They couldn't sell unmarked money on a street corner!!

Gentlemen:
Greg Sullivan and I sincerely hope that the ring game is a huge success. We appreciate all the interest in it. We, meaning some of us older players, competed in a few ring games ranging from $500 a game to $1000 a game. Nobody ever quit. It was just fantastic.
Rick, I agree wholeheartedly with you. ESPN is awful. They're made even worse by the sub-par commentary and lackluster presentation. All I can tell you nice folks is look out for our upcoming events. We have pure pool dynamite in the offing and you won't have to belong to any organization to play.
Meanwhile, hope to see most of you at the Derby City.

Grady can you confirm the date of the ring game and the players that are participating?

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D Hope the UPA touring pros get their UPA waivers, so they can attend. Oh, yeah, that's right. Charlie Williams is playing in the ring game, with Earl. Hmmm, can't wait!

Stumbled across the website for the Derby City Classic and found it has a new look, updated, and this whole ring game is on there, including brief bios of the six players, who they are sponsored by, et cetera.

Besides the Open, I can't think of a more prestigious event than the Derby City Classic, and this new ring game idea is a brilliant. It will bring a new air of excitement to the already action-packed week-long event.

ManlyShot,

Where is this located on the site? I went to the Derby City Homepage but I do not see anything about the ring game or players.

bkkpool, click on the 1st banner down. It looks like this and it changes.

i notice that the info in derby city bios, that they list jimmy wetch using a Schon cue, but do not mention that he uses a Predator shaft. [mistake or covering up?]
