can any of you guys help me out real quick. i have heard rings at different possitions on the butt of a cue called different letters, but some people have called different spots a, b, so forth. i am under the impression that below the joint is a, above the wrap is b, below the wrap is c, and and above the butt plate is d. is this correct, or are they labled differently?
 
i have always heard that where the forearm and handle are pieced together is called the A-Joint and where the handle and the butt piece join together is called the B-Joint...not sure about ring positions though.

In regards to ring positions. The a position is at the bottom of the shaft at the collar. b is at the joint collar, c is where the forearm and handle meet, d is where handle and buttsleeve meet and e is where buttsleeve and buttcap meet.

This is even a little confusing for those of use who do it every day. I have no idea how the rest of your are supposed to remember this.

They are numbered in the order we put them in the cue. This is how a majority of cuemakers list the rings. Here is a drawing.

E is on the shaft... I was too lazy to draw that part :)

Edit: After reading that thread, it doesn't even sound like the cuemakers are in agreement... So take this how ever you want. This is how we list them, how about that? :)
