RIP Sid Waddell

When I saw this thread, I let out an audible "Oh no!"

When I first heard that Sid was battling cancer, I contacted Jerry Forsyth, hoping that he would be able to offer any positive news, such as the cancer was caught in time, it's in remission, etc. Jerry concluded with "We can only hope for the best." I'm feeling sorry for Jerry, Jay, Sid's family and all his fans, because we lost a very unique, talented and funny character.

I heard a phrase long ago that fits like a glove for Sid Waddell...."Often imitated, never duplicated."

I was such a big fan of his that I researched him years back. He's written an autobiography entitled, ironically now, "The Road Back Home".

Here's a link for those interested.

It really is a great book. And I'm not just plugging it by saying that. Very revealing.

My prayers for his family and friends......

Steve Davis interviews Sid Waddell - 48 minutes

I thought this was worth a bump for those who may have missed it.

The "the cathredric calm of snooker" wasn't for him.....
....but pool suited him.

..and I was impressed by Steve Davis....I would have had trouble picturing
Steve interviewing Sid Waddell....but like everything else he does, he does
it well.

the sound seems sometimes to be out of sync...listen to it like radio
