Ripped out slate pins, repairable?

I purchased a number of '63 gold crown 1s that I'm in the process of restoring. Most had great slate (Brunstone) except for two, one is cracked and in need of the type of repair that is well documented here, but one has had the pins ripped out and repaired. It looks like it was repaired with Bondo about three inches or more in either direction from each seam at each of the pins. Is this acceptable? Will bondo be sufficiently hard but not brittle in a a wide deep repair like this to play on? Is there a better way to repair this or should I look to replace the slate or part this table? I have the slates stacked and it would be really difficult to get pictures so I hope I can get help without them. Thanks for any advice in advance.
