Robertson cues?

Today i went to the local poolroom and on one of the tables was 6 or so cues. I went over to look at them and a man came up and it was Curtis Robertson custom cuemaker from Texas. He said his wife had business in Denver and he came along to meet people and show his cues.He had cues from $350 for an SP up to $2800 for a half splice snake wood with a lot of ivory.
Anybody ever heard of him? Snakewood 2nd from right.

Robertson Cues

I met Mr. Robertson Friday and Saturday night at Table Steaks.
Very nice man.
I played with one of his cues.
He's doing a good job.
Seems to have quite a business going in Abilene, TX.
Pool tables, spas, ski equipment.
He may get into the Artistic Pool competition also.
Been building cues for many years but seriously for 5.

I enjoyed meeting Curtis.

Robertson cues

Curtis has been making cues about 4 years he started out doing repairs and eventually moved up. He has become good freinds with several well known cue makers. One was quoted as saying there are guys in the hall of fame that can't make cues that good. If you want a quality cue you need to look hard at buying a Robertson cue. Like most great cuemakers he is a perfectionist. If he ain't happy it will become firewood. Stop by and check out his booth at the SBE, and see for yourself.

Lets face it, there is a cue maker on every corner. With the availability of machinery, materials and information, building cues is almost a turn key operation now. Not having heard of someone though does not make them any less of a cue maker. Most new cue makers sell within a small area and if they are good that usually will be all they need. The last thing a cue maker should do is expand beyond what they are comfortable doing too soon or taking every order someone throws at them. That is when the dead lines start being missed, phones not answered, people getting pi$$ed and ultimately getting bad mouthed on boards like this.
 
I live in Texas and have not heard of this guy but there are also other cue makers that make fantastic cues that nobody has heard about. In San Antonio there are three cue makers that I know of that are below the radar of cue makers. Oscar Mireles is one, Pete Mora is another and there is a third guy I cant remember his name.

Hey measureman, I was in ft collins about three or four years ago and went to a handicap tournament at Match up's and you look familiar. Did you used to go to that place.

No not me. I just look like a lot of gray haired old guys around here. :grin-square:
