Robin Robin format questions

Yesterday, my tap team took part in a TAP tournament for the respective division champions. There was no mention of what type of format would be used so we assumed that it would be a double elimination format.

There were seven teams competing. My team lost our first match and then won the second. We had a bye scheduled for the third match our so we figured we would be back today and keep playing until we won or were eliminated.

The L.O. said well we don't know if you'll get to play tomorrow until the rest of the teams are done. I said "How can that be? I thought this is a double elim?". She said, no its a round robin.

I've never played in any kind of round robin tournament before, but I thought that in a round robin every team plays every other team at least one or more times. I don't understand how a team can go out after two matches with one win and one loss. Can somebody enlighten me?

The only way this makes sense is if it was round robin in groups of four and your group had one bye. I assume that the round where you got the bye was between the other two teams in your group (assuming a lot) and you won one and lost one in the first two rounds.

Or, the LO misspoke.

I agree with Bob , or if they are using a "cut" formula like used in golf , after everyone plays say for example 3 rounds and then the best 4 teams records advance and the bottom 4 teams go home , but with a bye figured into the equasion that could be tough or straight out unfair if the bye is counted as a win/loss.
