A little over a year ago I purchased a 9' Olhausen with Accu-Fast cushions and have played on Gold Crowns for over 44 years, and we all know what those are like. Recently I played on a table in someone's home that had cushions that were so sensitive, it was like the rubber on a pin ball machine that rockets the ball around. It was a no name table that the guy got from the previous owner in the purchase of the home. I crawled all over trying to find something that would identify it but to no avail. On bank shots with a shallow angle, if you struck it hard, it would actually increase it. It was the most unusual thing I've ever seen. Besides K-66 rubber, what else could they possibly have used in building that table or the rails to make them that fast and sensitive. :confused:
 
There's an old pool hall near where I live that has a front table that has rails similar to what you're describing. I don't know what kind of table it is either. I almost never go there, I think it's been over a year now. I call it a "trap" table because some of the pockets are tighter than the others and the rails are unbelievably fast. The players that play there all the time know every little quirk. It's a road player's worst nightmare!!
 
Are you sure the rail height was correct for the set of balls in use? A mismatch can smetimes lead to some really strange results.
 
I played on a table that had rails that seemed too fast in relation to the bed speed. I noticed that the cloth seemed to be real tight and I think that it made the ball come off faster than it should have.
I used to work at Champion Billiards in Arlington, VA at the Westmont shopping center and we had a double dhimmed table that had 2 pockets that were triple shimmed. This road player came through and I beat him with the 8 and then the last 2 and then even and I ended up 35 games winner. Dont worry Grady I know it is too many games but I did bust him. When it was over, he went around the table and put 2 balls in every pocket and said some very bad words about the tight ones!
