Yes there are lots more skills to learn but I would still give the snooker guys a chance although obviously the 9 ball players would be favs.

Tony Drago was in dead stroke when performing well in WPC and WP Masters. He hasn't done very well in Eurotour, so I wouldn't count on him performing well in WPC this year.

Steve Davis was down 8-2, not 8-0 when he made the once-in-a-lifetime comeback against Efren. There is a major difference.

Admitted, good snooker players have a chance of succeeding in pool tournaments but still something extraordinary is happening if that is the case. IMHO, Steve Davis is still the best snooker player at the pool table. Drago and the rest are just too inconsistent... Though, I enjoy watching Drago :)
 
Sorry it was 8:2, I just checked, however I wouldn't say there's a "big" difference! Still not bad for a snooker player who doesn't understand the game, plays it part time and can't play jump shots, plants and kicks!

Now again, compare ronnie to steve and then imagine if he took it up full time!
 
You also have to accept that a lot of snooker players consider this game of "bucket pool" a bit of a joke and if you have that opinion of the game it's going to be tough to be competitive.
Williams Came through the top of his group last year and he was only in it for a laugh apparently, much to the shagrin of Paul Potier :)

Well if he qualified and beat all the players that actually care about 9-ball then tough for them. If he just got the invite without having to qualify though, different matter.

That is the main problem with the top snooker players, they dont care much about the game. Mark might have messed around a week before the tourney on a 9-ball table, Steve Davis I doubt plays much 9-ball in his spare time. None of them are actually playing anything BUT the Worlds. I mean Allison actually came and played tourney after tourney before she started to dominate. Ronnie O'Sullivan would likely have to show up and play in the tournies and go toe to toe with the best for a while before he figured the game out and started drilling everyone. In the end I think he would redefine 9-ball but the only way he would drop snooker for 9-ball is money, and 9-ball is sure not offereing that ATM.
 
Your absolutely correct imo.
If any of the top snooker players had the mind to play 9 ball and spent time touring and learning they would be tough to beat.
If Ronnie O took up the game seriously he would be right at the top for sure.
 
Just remembered that Drago admitted that he has practised 9-ball quite a lot during the last few years. I think I take back some of the words about Drago and I think he has potential. Also, I think Davis has practised 9-ball a lot, especially the type of shots that doesn't come often/at all in snooker.

Talked about this with skillful snooker players and they agreed that when they play pool, they tend to leave the object ball too straight or they don't want to leave a long distance shot. Then they need to force the almost straight ball in whereas pool players leave a good angle on the shot and almost always use the same speed on the cueball and play position with different spins.
