Rudy is an old friend if mine and always a "dark horse" in all world level tournaments. Don't be surprised if he quitely soon owns the world..

Also won the Worlds back in 1996.

Really? Now that's a little known fact. Which tournament was this and where was it held? Can you tell us more about Luat? I think he has a great game.

I dunno about the Worlds . To my knowledge Luat has been always had respectable showing but never to win it all especially in big tournament.

He won the world 9-ball beating Nick Varner.
That was his only title during the PBT days I believe.

I like him. He's easy to talk to...very approachable.

He was selling me his Lambros cue a couple of weeks ago. I actually got to play with the cue for a couple of racks... it was brand new and I was the first to play with it.

I hope he doesn't choke in his next few matches...

Wish him luck...!!!

He did win a World Title. Here's a pic I have on file of his case that Jack Justis made for him back then. ;)

I think it was Archer he beat, I have a match with Archer beating him in the Worlds and he came back the next year and beat Archer in the finals much like a Hohmann/Pagulayan.

Damn! All the favorites are dropping like flies! I wouldn't be surprised if a newcomer wins this one.

But back to Luat, is this the same World Pool Championships as the one we're seeing now or a different one?

No, I believe it's different. When Luat won, it was sponsored by Camel and part of the Pro Billiards Tour (PBT). Nevertheless, it's still a "world" title. I think Souquet or Ortmann won this tournament in 1996.

I like Luat's game too. His pattern play seems more methodical than the other Filipinos, which I can relate to since I certainly don't have their talent!
