Room Size

I’ve looked at all the room size charts so I know what table makers recommend, but if it was your house would you put a 9’ table in a 14’ 2” x 24’ room or would you go to a pro 8’ table?

You have plenty of room for a 9 foot table. The width will allow at least a 3 or 4 inch backswing for the tightest possible shot which will be fine. The recommended amount is 6 inches. You should never need a shorter cue since a 6 inch backswing won't be necessary shooting a ball that is on the rail Such a shot would probably come up so rarely that you won't notice it.

ABC Sports lists 12' 6" as the minimum for a 9 foot table. There you would need shorter cues but they claim that won't happen too much:

get the pro eight - the 14.2 is the killer - the nine foot table is five by ten, outside measurement, the length is fine, the inside is not sufficient. where do people sit? i know the ends have extra space, but only enough. shooting off or near the rail will not be fun, after the newness of the table wears off. short cues take the fun out of the game. my opinion -- builder of three gold crown rooms from scratch to nice rooms with 7 feet of space around all sides. good luck

He is fine. 4 feet 6 inches out of the 14 feet 2 inches means he has 9 feet 8 inches split between two sides. That leaves 4 feet 10 inches per a side for cue space. 58 inches of space for a dead level cue on each side means he has basically no backstroke but if he jacks up a touch he can stroke a 58 inch cue at a dead straight shot frozen to the rail. The 6 inches of rail is irrelevent since you dont stroke into the rail but over it. This is plenty of room, you dont even need a short cue with this setup and a 9 foot.

The length of 24 feet will make it totally fine as far as table length is concerned. You can put chairs in the corners as those people wont be in the way at all due to the length of the room.

The inside rail on a 9' table is 50"X100"... the cue is only 58" long.
So now with about 5" of flat suface on each top side of the table, it leaves room for stroking.
