Ronnie Alcano loses first match in Qualifier

I attended most of the three days of the Shanghai IPT qualifier, as Colin can attest.

I enjoyed every minute of it and was treated to seeing some great pool, both on the tournament tables and in some side matches.

Colin did a fantastic job of acting as organizer, TD, challenge table player and most everything else. When he was trying to play two simultaneous matches on the challenge tables, I felt for him.

It was a shame to see Ronnie get knocked out so early, but the Chinese players played good. Ronnie was a real friend and inspiration to everybody there. I had seen Fu JianBo a and Li HeWen play before and knew how good they are, but was really surprised at the character, composure and play of Liu Wei. He told me right before his final match against Fu JianBo that he was nervous, but it sure didn't show.

Good job Colin and I look forward to the next one in August.
Thanks GADawg,
Ronnie was an absolute gentleman throughout the tourney and showed some true world class pool during the tourney and in the evenings.

I was also impressed with the composure of the Chinese players Li Hewen, Fu Jianbo and especially Liu Wei, who could be the first big name pool star out of Mainland China. He has a very analytical approach to the game which I feel will be to his advantage....not to mention he's quite young and photogenic, so he's a good chance to pick up sponsorships to assist travelling to more tournies.

Congrats to Ronnie for getting through this week in Las Vegas against an impressive line up.

Seems I played him into form last week :p

Well done Ronnie.Deserve it.

Hey Colin, looks like we were right that Shanghai would just be a glitch on his March towards IPT,lol.

True Mike,

Ronnie must have needed the warm up:D

We saw that Ronnie can beat anyone when his break is working. It also shows that the Chinese players who got through by beating Ronnie should do well in Las Vegas.

It does indeed.Fu and Liu have nothing to prove regarding their right to be there and if they play their natural game they can do well.

Anyway......you get off the computer and back on the practice table boy....nobody said you'd done enough yet:D
