Are you able to provide any youtube type examples of this phenomenon I have never in all my years of watching and playing snooker witnessed?

Winning the frame is absolutely the first priority. Making a century (which might become a maximum) is a secondary consideration.

I am just about to leave the house so don’t have time to look it up. One that has been mentioned is Judd Trump at the World’s. I did post an attachment showing RO questioning the ref about price money, (for a 147) a couple of shots into the run. His intentions after that were obvious.

Just want to mention something on the subtle finer points that maybe some that don't play this game may have missed. Check out the shot he plays when on 56 to get the next red, (2:48) when the camera comes round you will see he's slightly high on the black he has to play a very slow draw with lots of reverse english and finishes plumb on the next red with the correct angle for the black, superb control! these are key skills to making a max and most players could have 10 goes at this and never hit it right.
