Hello all. I am new to the game and was wondering if anyone here cores and dowels shafts? If so what sort of drill bit do you use that could be so long?

Also with balancing the whole cue, what is the right balance to evenly distribute the wieght? Or do you go slightly over in the handle, forearm and butt than you would the shaft?

Most use the drills found on this site for coring http://www.drillmasters.com/
I try to balance my cues at 18.5 and most will be between 18 and 19 inches.

The hammer and sickle is an inside joke between me and a few guys I served with in Korea. ICBM is a handle I've had on other boards and it's meaning is ironic with the logo, not intentional. If it offends I will remove it

I just core butt wood that is either unstable or too heavy or light. I dowel (turn round) the shafts if I buy square stock.
