This topic comes up here from time to time so maybe having this guide from Brunswick available for easy reference would be helpful.



SEVEN FOOT TABLE: 3.5' X 7'

EIGHT FOOT TABLE: 4' X 8'
(Playing area: 46" x 92")

I don't think those dimensions allow enough room for a reasonable-length back swing with a fairly level full-sized cue perpendicular to the rails.

Please, no. Those dimensions are total marketing BS, intended to trade people up to a size of table that they probably won't be comfortable with. The MINIMUM size needed is for a 58" cue with a backstroke six inches back from the nose of the cushion. And if Earl shows up, add 8 inches.

Or, you can play with kiddie cues. If that's not irritating, use the chart.
 
5 feet on each side of the table. This gives you 60" from the edge of the table. More than enough room for a backswing with any cue between 58-62".

Add 10 feet to the table dimensions. Pretty simple.
