Here are the groupings for the next round. If you will notice group 67 and 68 both list a C.Morris.One of those two groups should read R.Morris (Rodney) instead of C. Morris, however, there was an error at the IPT website. Any one know which grouping that should contain Rodney?

Who will advance?
Comments?

Carl Morris - poor guy is in 2 groups according to the website! I guess that means he might get paid twice (Group 67 & 68). I think Rodney Morris should be there in one of those groups, as stated above. If Carl Morris is in Group 68 with Daz Appleton then I think that group is very very tough too - Martinez and Feijen as well as Moore.

I think Group 63 is very tough - Bustamante, Hann and Boyes all in very good form and Ronnie O'Sullivan is a wild card who could beat anyone in a race to 8. Add Corey Deuel to that and you have one super-tough group.

I went into a money betting pool and have all 8 remaining Fillipinos left on my list of 25.

Other than the obvious well known Fillipinos, Like Reyes,Bustamante,Manalo,Pagulayan,Orcullo etc,(everyone picked these guys)
What's your opinion on Luat,Alcano and Lining advancing? Almost no-one in my pool has these guys, so it would be awesome if they could advance on to the next round.

Here's their groups:

Group 65
M. Immonen,S. Tot,J. Schmidt,J. Wetch,A. Lining
(Lining's in tough here)

Group 67
R. Luat,V. Foldes ,R. Morris,L. Nevel,B. Hunter
(no cakewalk for Luat either)

Group 70
C. Williams, M. Manalo,R. Alcano,S. Ellerby,G. Owen
(two tough americans,a fellow Flip and one tough chick for Alcano)

10 out of my 25 orginal picks were Phillipino's because these guys know how to play for $$$.The question is, will they win RJ some:D
RJ

parica and Kiamco:(

Alcano plays awesome, awesome pool.. if you got a chance to see him play, you will know what I mean... I put him on the level alongside Reyes, Busta, Pagulayan, Manalo and Orcollo... he is my darkhorse to win it all... you are safe to pick him anytime... Luat has been campaigning in the US for a long time... he's been wuppin @#$.. let's just say all the remaining Pinoy's are tough tough players... specially with this big money on the line... you bet they play their hearts out... there's no fear in these guys.... in my opinion Sambajon is the weakest among the remaining Pinoys...

As long as nationals are not grouped together, Filipinos I think have a better chance of dominating to the last round. 6 for 6.

RJ, I echo their sentiment. The weakest in what's left is Sambajon and Luat is a tad up on him. Too bad for Kiamco as I expected him to go through to the 3rd level. Valle, I consider below Kiamco. Parica needs to spend more time here, he just can't get any good action there in the US thus his game suffers. He has built such a reputation there that he needs to give outrageous spots just to get action and no action means decreasing capabilities. He needs to come back here and he'll get all the action he wants, even or getting a spot.

All I can say is, I'm very surprised but satisfied to see the higher level of competition. IPT did good to the sport!

My .02 cents

It's getting tougher, and tougher to choose who will survive. There will be some shortstops gone after today, unless they really have the heart of a champion.

I think Lining and Luat are at about what they can play, Alcano is on the way up, but not at the status of the other Filapino players. I see Lining and Luat dropping off soon, if not today then tomorrow.

Gabe and Alcano will ba in battle today, as will Charlie and Gabe. Sarah will play well, but not well enough today.

Niels, well practice makes perfect, and the thousands of hours perfecting his mechanics does pay off. Mika is no short winder, and can definitely catch a gear. Archer is shooting good, flashbacks to yester-decade.
Varner still has the heart of a Champion.

Remember, a lot of players play well going downhill, but a lot fall off when going uphill. Alex had a hard day yesterday, as did Allison, and Basavich and Sigel.

Gabe could surprise some players, and yes, David Matlock might surprise a lot of people. He caught a gear yesterday, and he is my darkhorse too.
Walden is struggling some (big tournament for him), but is smart and knows how to turn it on, and he can grind out a match.

Charlie Williams surprised me the most yesterday, but I have doubts whether he can go the distance. I am impressed with Boyes, Fu, Mick Hill, and Jason Kirkwood.

Of course, Efren, Francisco, and Raphael are 3 headed for the final 6.

How big will the break be today ..... Real big!

Even or getting a spot?? Now that's a strong statement. Does anyone ever offer Efren weight? That would be ballsy?

Why isn't there a Filipina who can compete on the world stage?

Think he is talking about Parica not Efren.

yes as long as no filipino will see each other, 90% the filipino will advance in the finals especialy Efren, as you notice when the price is big, Efren goes up, remember last IPT, Efren won the Champion, so we will see, yes there a lot tough players and the ball is round but still the filipino is a strong contender

Hi John,
Parica doesn't anymore enjoy the benefit of the "fear factor" here in the Philippines and so with Sambajon. Sambajon even gets weight here from a 3rd level player and still got beaten consistently. And this was just recently while Santos was preparing for this IPT event. Efren just got beaten by Corteza 17-10 in 10 balls even just before he left for this US trip. Django too had his share of beatings. I think that the pool heirarchy here now is in transition (passing the torch) and the next batch is stepping up.

There's a couple of Filipinas that can play but the development is slow due to lack of exposure to inernational competition. Rubilen plays and have beaten 2nd and 3rd level male players in national open tournaments

Yipppeeeee!!!!! All three Filipinos advanced with Lining (4-0)dominating, while Alcano went 2-2 and Luat got in by the skin of his teeth going 2-2 and winning by a mere .39 of a percentage point over Vimos Foldes whom he beat 8-6.

How long will these long shot Filipinos hang in there?

The smell of that green($) is getting fragrantly stronger so the desire too for these guys. I'm sure that their being used to the daily continuous (more than 1 a night) big money action and long hours on their feet is factoring in. I still say that Luat and Sambajon are the tail-enders of the contingent in the next level. Alex needs to spend a lot more time here,he needs to get his body used to the long and tiring days. The pool culture here somehow benefits the players eyes, mind and the right muscles for the long hours that the IPT tournaments subject them to. Playing for the cheese multiple times a day contributes too. No gym or 6hours daily practice session can do that.

So at this point, who knows how long they're going to hang in there?:) What I can assure you is that they can't all be in the last level! LOL
