How do you guys feel about cue sticks with rubber grips?

I'm more of an Irish wrap/ leather grip kind of guy but my APA teammate just bought a Pure X HXTLB and it has a rubber grip.

How do you guys feel about these - any feedback?

I'd also like opinions, especially on grips that can be added to a wrapless cue. Just bought a wrapless breaker and I'm a sweaty handed dude accustomed to Irish linen on my player.

I've tried the slip-on rubber grips and I think they're ok. However, you do have to get used to both the increased weight (~1oz) and increased diameter of the butt. Both -especially the weight - take a little time to get used to, but if you sweat a lot it's not a bad option.

If the handle of the cue is wood, you should be able to get a cue builder to cut it and install linen with a refinish I would think, not sure if this is the most cost effective idea if there are external options but it should be possible.

Lol, I know yours is a wood handle, was more just for general consumption. We should of asked Pechauer how long it would take to make one with linen, I wonder if they would? I'll check. Tom

Rubber grips?

If you have a slip stroke, forget it. If you currently grip your playing cue fairly tightly and you're looking to lighten your grip while still maintaining control, a rubber grip may be for you. I think the popularity of rubber grips in a break cue is you can really lighten your grip but still have the control needed for high speed strokes.

But in the end, it's a personal preference. One other thing to consider is will a rubber grip work with your current case, some will not allow for it (too sticky).

I had a Predator BK3 (breaker) with the "sport wrap" (rubber grip) and it took 3 people to get it out of my Ron Thomas 2X4 case.I thought it was gonna rip the interior out of the case.lol

I have a mezz power break pro with the power grip silicon wrap. I don't dare try to put it in my jb case without a sleeve on it or I feel I'll never get it out.

I do live the fact I don't have to grip it hard and it breaks like a monster

I have the HXTP1 which has the same grip. I like it far more than I expected I would.

Zphix, I shoot with a Lucasi Hybrid LHL-10 with a Predator 314 shaft. The Hybrids have a rubberized grip that they call G5 grip with X-Shox dampening technology (bla, bla, bla). The first time I shot with that type of rubber grip, I fell in love with the way that it feels in my hand. It absolutely does not help me with moist hands. Again, I just love the way it feels. For wet hands, I just keep a towel in my hand and wipe down just before I shoot. Same rubber grip deal with my break cue which is an HXTP-2. I don't think that the rubber grip is better than wood or linen, it is just a personal preference.

Thanks

I have talked to Pechauer about replacing wraps and its 90 dollars with about a week to do it. I am having my Irish linen replaced with leather. I would imagine it may even be cheaper to replace wood with Irish linen.
