This happend during league the other day and wasnt sure what should have been done.
A player was reaching over the table to shoot (playing 8 ball) and while standing up after the shot he stuck the 5 ball with his hand. None of the balls in motion made contact with the five ball, or passed through the area the five ball was moved from. So it didnt change the shot in question.
The problem came when the five ball (which was only moved by his hand or cue) came back and struck the 8 ball and they both went into the corner pocket.
Would this fall under the rule of pocketing the 8 ball out of turn? If not, should the 8 be spotted or replaced in its original position? If the game is not over should the five be spotted? Would the opponent get ball in hand?
This also brought up the conversation of cueball fouls only. I was under the impression that even under cueball foul only rules if more than one ball is accidentally moved it is still considered a foul, but was unable to find it in the rulebook. Am I missing it or has this rule been changed?
How would you rule it under the BCA ruleset?
