Run This (51)

Every time I think I've got it the 9 messes me up.. I'll keep trying though :)

Here's what I'd like to try...

CueTable Help

Had to move the 9-ball from it's original spot because I kept getting redirected by the link in the middle of the table. I like the pattern though, and it ultimately is about the same shot. I realize the cue ball would move a bit more than I show on some of those "stop" shots, but I didn't have the patience to get the angles exactly right this time. I don't think it really changes the pattern much though. Maybe I'll redo it later to make it pretty.

Maybe try ...5-1-9 [X6] or ...1-5-9 [X6]. As long as you don't cross the angle for the 9 (shooting in the corner) it's not that bad as a key ball.

The middle cluster of balls can be made a lot of ways - with lots of room to "change plans" if you get a little out of line. The key (IMO) is getting proper shape on the 8 to go 8-4-10 - then out a bit to either shoot the 5 or the 1.

Something like (2, 3, 7 in any order) - 8, 4, 10, [(1, 5, 9) or 5, 1, 9)].

If I had BIH behind the head string, I would just shoot the 9 first, and roll up for the 7 and go from there.

starting with the biggest problem.

I like to get rid of the 8 with ball in hand as it is the only one blocking a lane and everything else is in the open and pocketable. After that the next thing I like doing is reducing the density of balls in the stack and then going around the table to tidy up. I like the 1 as the KB as the 9 is too far uptable for getting position on it with an accurate enough angle for my liking.

I also like going 1, 9, 5 for the last three balls as the 5 makes for a KB with less movement, but the 5 leads the 9 in a more natural fashion.

CueTable Help

Sorry I've been lazy about contributing here lately, but here's what I saw. It's sort of around the world like 3andstop's pattern.

Good to have you posting layouts BigCat. I enjoyed your commentary the other night during the big match. Are you familiar with how to add pages to cuetable layouts? If not I just bumped up a thread "cuetable 101" for a quick guide.

I'm sorry....but that's just funny to me. This coming from the guy who essentially single-handedly keeps the "run this" segment going on the straight pool forum.

Hello bluepepper,

Thanks for the compliment. I am glad you enjoyed it and I definitely enjoyed doing the commentary. I actually have always wanted to participate more in your threads but I am usually pretty busy at work (I do work a full time job @ ~50 hours/week).

I will look into the help for setting up pages to my layouts.

And, FWIW, I actually disagree :) with your last 3 or 4 balls. I think the better keyball is the 5 ball and you have the 3 ball to help you get on it. Generally, the ideal key ball is parallel to the break ball from the side rail. The 3, 5, and 6 balls create the classic triangle pattern and are not too difficult to get position on. JMHO though.

Take care,
Ray

Points taken. Thanks Ray. I look forward to your contributions when you find time. Sorry I got hooked on the Chuck Norris jokes. I haven't laughed that hard in a while. Chuck Norris once punched a guy in the soul. Chuck Norris can unscramble an egg.
Peace.

Yeah, but that's the easy part. Just throw some balls on the table. 2 minutes tops. The stop shot puzzles take a while, but these are easy. That is, until I try to run them.
