Not trying to step on Pepper's toes here but that other thread about the triangles got me looking at BlackJack's layout and realized it's a pretty tough layout on the first few balls. The obvious beginning is shooting the 6 and going for the 4 but let us not forget that you're jacked up over the 13 starting out. Anyway, I tried to recreate BlackJack's layout as close as I could. Let's see what you kids can come up with........especially you, BlackJack because it's your layout to begin with. hehe!!

My toes are fine. Thanks for posting one. Here's my take on it. I assumed that if any balls are questionable whether they pass by others, they don't.

This is the kind of rack where you would like to get in the middle of things and clean out the core, but I don't see a way to get there. The 4 blocks shots, so I'm tempted to start with 12-8-4 and then 6 or 9 or 13 depending on how the first three shots go. If I get perfect on the 13 or 9, I'll shot it and the 1 next with follow to get on the 11.

When I try coming off the 13 to hit the one, the one rolls against the 8 and freezes. According to the large-size Cuetable editing window, the 12 fits for the first shot.

Here Goes My Attempt

Here is what I came up with with at first glance. There are a couple shots I don't really like, but wanted to stick with what had been done to see what others thought. I don't like shooting the 1 up table and I am not sure about bumping the 15. As far as the 1, I have been playing with an older gentleman that I have mentioned in some other post who used to play some with Mosconi. I donate to his pool fund each time we play, but he is teaching me as we go. One thing that we both agree on is trying if at all possible not to shoot past the side pocket. This can not be avoided some times, but in my little time playing 14.1, I have learned that it definitely makes things easier if you don't. I also do not like running into balls unless it is necessary. When we play, I am amazed at how he can break the clusters early, and then avoid any contact thru the rest of the rack. Again, please let me know what you think.

Well thats what I was thinking. Of course my pinpoint accuracy shooting always lands me a great break!

EDIT: Yes, table clears magically at end... (how'd that happen?!)

I guess the 12 would make this a lot easier. I didn't even check to see if it went.
Can you explain in a little more detail what you mean by the 1 freezing against the 8? Are you saying that you would fear the 2 balls becoming tied up?
Thanks

I, for one, happen to like your run a lot. The only shot that I see as being potentially tricky is the 1-ball, not because it's uptable, but because you don't know for sure what angle you'll have on the 5-ball before it. It would be safer to play for the cueball to be straight in on or slightly above the 5 and then you might want to play for the 1-ball in the other uptable corner pocket or the side because your positioning zone for that shot would be a little larger, since you're traveling along rather than across the zone for the 1-ball shot. Or you could do something like this:

BTW, I played with Mosconi.
Golf counts, right?
Actually, I played near Mosconi. One group behind him. In high school I was on the golf team and my friend and competitor from the rival school in town got to play with him. I was a little jealous, but I wasn't yet into pool. My father, who grew up admiring Mosconi, was starstruck when he would pick me up from the golf course and see Willie there.

Pocketing the 8-2-4-6 in whatever order pretty much sets the table to take the remaining sequence to breaking off the 3.
