Runout, a Novel Anyone read this?

I saw that yesterday. Kinda pricey for an amazon paperback but I'll probably buy it anyway.

I recently read Byrne's collection of pool-related short stories and The Color of Money and they were both excellent.

Thanks for the reccomendations, I have the Color of Money on my 'wish list' have you read McGoorty?

At least 3 times :D . Fran introduced me to Robert Byrne and he was showing me the new edition last year in Peoria. It has a lot of new pictures. I should have bought it right there because shortly after that my dog ate my original (She must be smart because she likes books)

I read the book Hustler Days by R.A Dyer about Jersey Red, Luther Lassiter and Minnesota Fats. That was good.

Playing Off the Rail is a must-read if you have not read it.

I have the Hustler and Runout on my wish list.

If you want to add a book to your list try Hamster Tales written by azb's own David Malone. It's a fun read.

What did you think of The color of Money?
I read it and really liked it. I remember being so anxious waiting for the movie to be released. When I finally saw the movie, I felt as though a crime had been comitted against Mr Tevis.
Just curious as to what you thought about the book.

i read the color of money and i have to say i was really disappointed. I read quite a bit and its always been my experience that you read a great book, then you go see the movie and it just sucks and its nothing like the book etc etc etc. So i love the movie the color or money, was excited to get the book and then after i read it i was really let down. I think its one of the first times ive ever loved the movie and didnt like the book.

I liked the book a lot.

I liked the movie a lot.

For anyone who has not read it, the book and the movie are vastly different. The only common denominator is the fact that Eddie is trying to make a comeback.

amazon also has a book from 2004 called The Pool Room. I don't know anything about it though.
