Ruslan Chinakhov

Just out of curiosity, what was the spot he gave Hennessee last year? I assume they were playing 9 ball?

10 ball. 4 on the wire going to 11.

It wasn't 4 on the wire. They raced to 11 twice, you had to win both sets
to get the cash. Hennessee got 1 game on the wire in the 1st set and 2
games on the wire in the 2nd set. The game was 10 Ball and the spot for
both races to 11 was agreed on before they broke the 1st rack, of which
Ruslan broke and ran the 1st 4 racks right out of the gate. I can't remember
the score on the 1st set, but I don't think it was in question. I think the 2nd
set was 11-8, but Ruslan won both sets. Needless to say, I was very, very
impressed with his game. That was the 1st I'd heard of him or seen him play.
For what it's worth, they were using the Magic Rack, still impressive none
the less.

Fine player, but even today, I'm not sold on his patterns and position play. He's young and improving and may win something very big down the road, but he needs more development, as do most 23 year olds.

The AzB database says his date of birth was Jan. 25, 1992.

[Could be wrong, of course.]

He played virtually flawless against Hennessee and his position
and patterns was like a road map. I get what you're saying and
your pool knowledge is up there with anybody's. Maybe he'll do
some big things at Derby this time around, maybe not, but he's
a force to be reckoned with, that's for sure.

I hope to see you at Derby again, sjm. I'll be there on Monday
and I'll be sure to say hello.
