I need to build a Russian Pyramid table and need all the right dimensions for the rails (pocket size, pocket width, pocket angle, rubbers used, rubber height from bed, etc.) Also is there a place in the US that sells pockets and rubbers for a Russian Pyramid table.

Thanks

You'd be better off finding someone in Russia to talk to about parts and dimensions, since that's where the origin of the tables are. ;)

Good thing the internet is international then, eh?

Internet isn't particularly useful in answering the questions raised, and probably contributes much misinformation:D :D :D

For Your Critical Consideration:

Purportedly the table of the Russian Pro Tour - with open web netting for pockets

According to this link Russian Billiards (North American version) was first played at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario

These Pyramid tables have closed, not open netting pockets

RILEY snooker table company in the UK may be able to help you with some of the things you need. They made the Russian pyr. table I picked up a few years ago. The phone number is +44(0)1234 218900.

BTW, that table is currently in storage, and if you are interested in buying instead of building, I can check with the owner and see if it is available. It's a beautiful table, built in the Riley Aristocrat model style.

If anyone doesn't know about Russian Pyramid it is an unbeleivable game because of the size of the pockets and the angle of the pockets. The ball size is 2.6" and the pocket is 2.9" To win you only have to make 8 balls and any ball after each shot can be used as the cue ball. Most shots are made as carom shots to get the right angle into the pocket.

Just spoke with the owner of the table. He has determined that he will have the room to set the table up in the new pool room he is opening in Port St. Lucie, Fl. in the near future. He added that if the table doesn't induce enough play to warrant the amount of room it will take up (it's a 6' x 12' monster), he will be interested in selling it.

I will begin setting up the tables there in two to three weeks. If you still need the specs at that time I can get them off that table for you. I have set this table up once before and if I remember right, the balls were something like 62 mm in dia. (only slightly smaller than a softball) and the pockets were 64 mm at the opening. This made for some interesting prop bets. One was, place object ball in center of table, bet was even money that shooter couldn't make object ball in a corner pocket with "CUE BALL IN HAND".

BTW, for you players around Port St. Lucie, you have a nice room in your future. In addition to the Russian Pyramid table there will be a billiard table, Nine 9' GC IVs, eleven 9' Diamonds, four 7' Diamonds and two 7' Valleys.

Off topic a bit but it is interesting that they sell 6,7,8 and 9ft snooker tables.

I only heard of 10 and 12's.

A 6ft snooker table would seem like a toy.

It is my understanding that the balls are 68mm which is 2.68 inches and the corner pockets are 74mm +or- .5mm which is 2.91 inches.

That sounds fun.

NOT!!!

Actually, there are two different sized balls currently used, 68 mm and 70 mm, with the pockets being 74mm wide. I was at Orlando Billiard Center when they had that table set up and it was a blast to play. It took me almost a month of playing it before I could muster an 8 and out... and I play pretty good pool. :)
Watching Stalev play this game is incredible. Go on to youtube and search for any videos. I found a site a couple years ago with the regional tour for Yugoslavia, Russia, etc. on it and all the past tourney results, and even a list of the rules.
If anyone ever gets a chance to try this game, you will certainly have an unforgettable experience. We came up with so many gaff shots to bet on its not funny.

Spot shot - who know.. 10 tries might be a winner
ball center table - take ball in hand and try to shoot it into any corner
ball 1 ft. off the bottom rail in the center - ball in hand, shoot it into either corner (closest)
make a ball on the break - almost never happens.

Yes I know it is a very interesting game to say the least. I hit some balls around on one and got very dissappointed in myself as to not being able to make a ball in a pocket. You have to be dead nuts on. Still looking for the specs to be able to build one

like I said in my reply to the same thread in Mechanic forum I will inform you as soon as I can. And I am Russian :)
