SAD NEWS: Just recived word that a friend of mine, and the pool world wife passed away, I know some of you rememberPAPA MURPHY of the BRASS RAIL in athens ga, well his lovely wife JUNE passed, she is at a funeral home in winder georgia, i dont know the one .but you might find out by phone. she was a lovely lady, and as nice as could be. always a smile for you!!! STICK
 
Thats a shame they wore a great pair and he will be lost without her I'm sure, lets say a prayer for papa and the family.--Leonard
 
i was shocked to hear this. you could not find a more giving and caring person than mama murphy. she will be missed. prayers go out to papa murph.

I knew papa smurf for a few years and the times we had are unforgettable. Having just lost my wife of 30 years i can feel his pain and my heart goes out to him. they were indeed a great couple. Every year at the open he would make it a point to call her several times a day to check on her. PAPA< you have my deepest and heartfelt sympathy for your loss. I used to bring him fresh home grown tomatoes every year and he would get a loaf of bread and slice the tomatoes and make a tomato sandwich with mayo, salt and a little pepper....God i miss those days. Somebody please find the name of the funeral home and their address. Maybe they have an online sign in guest book....................mike
 
I loved Papa and Mama Murphy. They were probably the biggest supporters of pool by room owners in the South over the past 12 or 15 years. My condolences to Papa Murphy and the rest of the family.

I always thought the world of mama murph. She took care of all of us along with pops for about 5 years. Anyone that could have put up with pops for that long is an awesome lady. My condolences to pop, she will be missed.
 
met papa and mama murph last year at his new place in winder im just 14
but they treated me like one of there own my prayers are with you papa and your family
 
While we are giving out sad news-Im not sure if its been posted or how many people know

"Mt Vernon Tommy"

but he passed about 10 days ago in Hawaii with his family.

When he was in Florida 20 years ago or so he was known as New York Tommy. He was a stand-up guy as they say.
 
Years ago I met the Murphy's at their beloved room, The Brass Rail in Athens GA. Anyone who met either of them always remember them. June was a sweet and gracious woman who treated all pool players like her children and laughed and loved the fun and dear antics of her humourous husband. God bless Mom and Pop Murphy. My heart goes out to her family.
