I recently bought a cue with 2 shafts, and my current case is a 3x4. I will have 6 shafts, 3 butts and 1 jump bump. I cant fit all into the 3x4 case, i have to take out 2 shafts and store them elsewhere. I do have a solve case that can hold the 2 extra shafts. The soft case will be store in my cupboard. Will the airconditioning affect the shafts also?

What is the best way to store the 2 extra shafts without getting a hard case?

Thanks in advance for the help!

wrap some rubber bands around the tips and then attach a paper clip or string and hang them in a closet from the tip, letting them dangle . Gravity will keep them straight

How abt the moisture? Would it be better if I dangle the soft case with the shaft in it? At least the soft case offer a little more protection.

Just another qns, as in the day I'm not home so no aircon, and it might get a little warm but at night when im back I'll on the aircon. Although the shafts is in the cupboard and in soft case, will it get affected?

If the wood is cured and seasoned properly, your shafts should not warp at all from the low moisture in you house. Just make sure to store the shaft in a full upright position.
As long as the temperature is not too extreme both hot and cold in you house, there should not be a problem. I have shafts in my cue rack for 3 years without any problems.
Once I run out of room, I am going to try out sugeknight suggestion. The only changes I would make is to put a small piece of cloth around the tip and use some string. I know rubber bands break and leave marks over time.

To stroe just a shaft no . You woyld have to lean the case in the wall . Find a cheap hard case and put it in there ... works great .

Soft case is probably fine. If you are worried, hang the soft case in your closet on a hanger or nail, so the shafts are in a sense just hanging straight up and down.

Thanks all for the advice. I think I will hang the soft case in my cupboard.

Honestly, I've kept my first Joss cue in a soft case since my dad gave it to me when I was 16. I'm 25 now, so 7 years in a soft case, through my dorm room and frat house in college, usually laying on its side, still straight as the day I got it. Just don't step on it laying on the floor.
