Buyers/sellers! Info only! Got a call today from paypal confirming a purchase i made from an a-z seller.

They were confirming that it was a sale thru az billiards.

I did not realize that the seller had even mentioned az billiards.

What the hell is going on? Does a seller have to report to them that a pending sale is thru az??

There was nothing wrong or even side-ways on the sale, however, it just seemed odd that they were confirming a payment to a person using az billiards to advertise??

Has anyone else received confirmation calls like this? Wtf is going on??

Are you certain that the return email address is actually Paypal and that it is not a phishing scam? What info do they want? Is there a link to click on, etc? Don't click, if there is...

Did the OP get an Email or a call? If it was an email I think you may be correct Joe and it may have been a phishing scheme. A phone call would be different. If it was indeed a call I would have called the number right back or googled it to make sure it was from Paypal.

Wow, what is this world coming to?

Probably a scam

Probably a scam right?

Did they ask for any personal information??

It would be very easy for a scammer to see a sale here, know it was done by PP and then try to get information.

Why would they care that the sale was generated here? That makes no sense whatsoever. They get their cut and that's all the should be after.

It could be that they have alot of activity with the betters here, sending personal (no fee) transactions between one another. I'm sure they don't like that activity, espcially because they don't profit from it:wink:.

I received a telephone call. The man called me by my full name, identified himself as a paypal representative, told me that the call was being recorded for training purpose. The only question he asked me was to verify my account by my e-mail address. He offered the info regarding the amount of the payment, the sellers name, and the amount of the sale (payment), and that the sale had been thru AZ Billiards.

The caller had all the info of the sale. I have probably near 100 transactions thru paypal, and have NEVER had any "Confirmed" before.

I just found it very odd.
ps, I just called the caller's number. It was from Nebraska. An automated voice answered as, "PAYPAL CUSTOMER SERVICE". Guess all is well. I believe someone from their department is investigating AZB.

No sales are ever "through" AZB. AZB is simply a forum host...all the ads are basically classified ads. AZB has no "interest" in the transaction at all.

Makes no sense.
