Anyone familiar with Sam K-Steel pool tables and their quality? I have an opportunity to buy one for less than 1/2 retail, and I live in Egypt where it is hard to find any import table. Tables manufactured here are not up to par with even lower quality tables back in the US, IMHO. Thanks for any feedback you may provide.

I've never played on or seen one in the flesh but, for what it's worth, I was watching a One Pocket tournament on an Accu-Stats DVD yesterday and they were using these tables for the event. Buddy Hall and Grady (The Professor) were the commentators and they said they really liked the tables and the way they played.

Steel rails play different from wood. The ball banks different. They use the same brand k55/k66? Cushion material diamond use which is different from Brunswick!

The original diamond tables were oak vs. Dymondwood. They banked better and would give slightly on contact.

Just my opinion. John Moody out in Salisbury got one of every brand in his pool room and sold off the kim steel tables based on player preferences.

The owner of kim steel is very nice he is Tobias Kim! Sponsored a grady event. Ball return was best in business. He offers a wood rail version I think or you could switch to Brunswick superspeed cushions.

It all depends on what you like?

I've had plenty of requests from room owners here in the USA to work on them in pool rooms, my answer is always the same....I don't work on pool tables anymore!

Almost forgot to mention steel table rails make rail extending to decrease pocket size an issue.

They are hard to modify! I think dymondwood could be cumbersome too? That stuff is rock hard!
