Sampaio Pin Size

So here's the story,
For christmas my cousin gave me his Sampaio Premier which he won at an auction for 12 bucks. The cue has been appraised at right around a grand. so naturally I wanna save the original shaft.
Now the original Shaft was "Walmarted" (they put on the cheap ferrule and glued it on) and I wanna get a new shaft for it. But since my local Owner and Local maker have no idea what the pin size is I was looking for help. If anyone has advice great. if the Mods deem this the incorrect place just move it and I apologize in advance thanks

A Sampaio Premier in brand new condition in a box is worth about $700.00, I mean brand new.
Can't recall the tpi on the brass pin but maybe more experienced cue makers that have repaired a Sampaio cue might be able to help you.

I would say that even the $700 is probably around double the real value on the open market of one in "as new" condition.

If your local maker can't tell the pin size I probably wouldn't have him work on any cues of any sort.

You can possibly get your shaft restored. The cue maker or repair man needs to see it to say what can be done.

A replacement shaft can be made. I know that Ryan "ratcues" has made some Sampaio shafts. You can find him here in the forums, very reputable.

An new shaft would, of course, not have the original Sampaio stamping on it.

I am curious who appraised such a cue at $1,000. Did they offer to buy it for that? If so, sell it immediately. They have been selling on Ebay recently right around 100-400 bucks. Seriously. You can go check if you like. One sold on another auction site last week for about 40 bucks. Don't look at asking prices, look at what they actually sell for. These are public auctions. I even passed up the one for 40 bucks and I am a sucker for such things. The sole Sampaio in my collection cost me about $20 with a brand new hard case thrown in and the cue is nearly perfect.

A good new shaft will probably equal the value of the cue.

I made a shaft for one a long time ago. Probably 10 years or more.

If I remember, it's a 5/16-20. I remember it because I thought I wouldn't be able to do it, but when I looked in the huge MSC catalog, they had a tap for it. I think I paid $6 for the tap. There's no telling where that tap is now, but the guy I built the shaft for still has it. He stopped by a little while back.

I appreciate the answers guys.
He said it was some weird 5-16ths by eye but he wasn't totally sure.
It was appraised by him and the owner 2 seperate accounts and both are incredibly knowledgeable.
I'm actually gonna look to just getting a new shaft. Probably a Tiger product if he makes something that fits it. Then eventually have the other shaft restored. It's all on future plans

You're best off just getting one made for it rather than trying to fit something off the shelf to it.

Also, having the existing shaft restored probably wouldn't take much as long as it's in decent shape.

You say the person is knowledgeable yet they don't know the pin size...and placed the value at $1,000. I am skeptical.

That sounds like a real big joint screw?
Maybe 8mm?
This was the joint set up. It's 5/16x18 now.
Btw
That's all one piece.
