To my fellow AZers, I just wanted to ask your opinions about this two cues, about how it plays, which one is better??? or do you have a better suggestion for a cue at this price range??? either a custom or other production cues...thanks!!!

i feel when purchasing a cue it is also a investment there many cuemakers that make great cues but ,and its just my opinion if your spending money why buy a cue for say 1200.00 and as soon as you buy it its worth half.
i try to deal in cues that hold there value or go up in value. the 2 cues you mentioned are fine to buy as long as your buying at a reduced price not retail. i cant see why anyone would buy a shcon cue for retail 1200.00 when theirs people selling to the public at 50 off if i was schon i would not sell to anyone that does that just hurting the value of there product.
if we knew your price range maybe i could make a suggestion

thanks...may i know those other better choices...i am looking at about 500 budget since i'm not so sure on what to really get...

my 2 cents

I won a purpleheart Samsara Barcue in a raffle a few years ago, and at first I just said "cool, a free stick to sell", but after trying it for a while, I couldn't put it down and it turned into my favorite cue for a over a year.

The Schons that I've had have all played nice too. Between the two cues, the Samsara has a slightly thicker taper on the shaft. The Samsaras use some really nice wood, but the Schons have all of those pretty inlaid points.

There are better cues out there, but for the money, it's hard to go wrong with the Samsara.

for 500 u can get someone to build you a plain jane like the samsara barcue. this will be different cuz u can customize it to whatever you want instead of just using what samsara gives you. i think u can easily get a plain jane with 2 shafts from many good cuemakers instead of the samsara which only has 1 shaft.

thanks dank...do you have any suggestion or idea about a good and decent makers for this price range...i have ordered a varney and it wouldn't be finished until about 9 months, hopefully...i'm just a simple plain jane type of cue enthusiast, hit and playability comes first...

I would suggest Jimmy Lee of J&D Customs. His prices are more than competitive and his customer service is phenomenal. Plan out a little of what you think you'd like and send it to him in a PM, SN is J&D Customs, he'll get back to you later the same night as that's normally when he gets on.

If you like Sneaky Petes, there are many makers. I would suggest Bob Frey or Leon Sly. Both could make you something in that price range.

RD Cues or Dominiak would be good options in that range also.

Also, definately check out the for sale section here. There are a lot of nice cues in that range that come up for sale quite often.

i have to agree with you on this one....but schon used to make a sneaky pete and boy that was the only cue from them i used to like

Thats 2 very different cues. Schons are mainly steel jointed, brass piloted joints and the Bar Cues are wood to wood Radial pin joints. These are 2 very different feeling cues. I think the best bet is to try out both styles and make you decision from there. Schon cues have a great reputation and not a lot of people talk bad about Samsara either. If you're interested I have 4 Bar Cues (Curly Maple, Birdseye, Cocobolo, Bubinga) for sale in the Sale section for $325 each. I'd have to get a little more for shipping to Hong Kong but let me know if you're interested.

Personally I'm more of a wood to wood joint cue person. I like the feel you get much better then steel piloted joints. That is just my opinion though.

The best custom high end player cue for the money is hands down the Dominiak sweet 16. You get a great radial laminated but and shaft at a low price of 300 to 250. go check out www.dominiakcues.com you will be able to get an amazing cue with a nice leather wrap for the best price. All the wood he puts into his cue is high quality grade A. He even offers a nice cue with amazing designs at that 500 mark. You won't be dissopointed at all.

Completely subjective as one is mainly SS joint and the barcue is wood to wood.

I think Schon cues are fantastic and for $500 you can get a nice one. It is strictly my personal preference though since I am a fan of SS joints.
Not to mention, and not to slight BarCue, but Schon will probably get better re-sale value if you decide to move it.
