San Francisco Pool Halls

I'll be in town next week, and would appreciate any suggestions for a good pool room in the area. I'll be staying at the Omni on California St., and, while it would be nice to find something w/in walking distance, I'm counting on having to take a cab somewhere. Would prefer a room that puts the emphasis on equipment, not aesthetics (Chris's in Chicago is pretty much my idea of the perfect pool room, if that tells you anything), but I'll probably settle for any place that has decent tables. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Strangely enough I'll be in San Fransisco next Friday for one night only (heading up to Davis to pick up a boat my g/f bought)

Anyone want to hook up and play some?

I don't know my way around S.F. and I'm not 100% sure what part of town we're staying at yet (I'll find out later today or tomorrow) My chick will be visiting with her friend, so I'd rather go shoot some pool somewhere.

Family billiards in Daly city.
Town and Country in Daly City?

Family is on Geary in San Francisco, and is the room most likely to have good players, I think.

Your right...I was thinking of Family billiards..there. I just knew to answer that place as the place to go for a game. Sure as hell beats going to the UC Berkeley Student union (where I spent my time playing no nothing bangers in college).

Jillian's

Pool Halls in SF - Family Billiards (Geary St) Town & Country (Daly City) too far. Billiard Palacade (Market) or is it Mission?

Bar/ Night club w/ 18 Gold Crown IIIs? Jillians in the Metreon (4th and Mission)

Enjoy you time in the bay...

None within walking distance

Unless you count Jillians which is a few long blocks away, but it is more of a sports bar, restaurant, dance place with a few tables on the side. The famous old Cochran's which would have been closer is closed now. The last name was Hollywood Billiards but they had some problems reopening as they had a murder and illegal permits. I don't think they reopened. Family Billiards is way out on Geary, expensive cab ride , however bus runs along Geary. They are in an old bank building, sort of a plain place run by great people and lots of action at times. Tournaments several times a week. Handicap and open.

DO NOT go to Town&Country in Daly City!! Unless you carry a Glock 9 along with your cue.

Family Billiards is in San Francisco, and is a great room. Plenty of action. Highly recommended. Let me know when you're gonna be up here and I'll try to make it.

Yeah, Family Billiards is sounding like best option for sure. Thanks for the input.

LOL, no the Glock is staying at home for this trip, and, as a matter of fact, the cue probably is as well; I don't believe you can have a cue as a carry-on, and I'm not about to check it.

Ok, I'm not sure which night I'm going to play yet, but it will probably be Wed. or Thur. I'll pm you when I know for sure. Thanks for the advice, btw.
