Heading to San Juan next week.
1 Does anyone know a good places to play some pool?
2 Can I bring in a cue with ivory for my use?
3 anyone buy and sell cues on San Juan?

I wouldnt bring a cue that you would feel bad about its las trip.

It is like the wild west out there, in parts.

Hope you can have someone from azb guide you.

Dont take anything you want to bring back home to Mexico! No ivory or anything like that, you might get over but not get it back in and theres theft.

Hey I'm San Juan now, working for the next 4 months.

There is quite a bit of bar box action....if you know how to play last pocket. They are quite good out here with that game.

There two places to play if you're looking for 4 1/2x9 tables. Nine/Ten ball is played on the big tables. The places to play are:
In San Juan, all bar tables.
East part of the island, Salinas in a small town one hour south of San Juan, there's a guy with a room with 3-4 big tables. This place is tough to find. Good equipment as he re-does the cloth regularly.
West part of the island, San Sebastian, 111 Master's Billiards, three hours west of San Juan. I haven't been there yet. I believe there are more than 12 big tables.
Both places are only listed on Facebook, its an eye-opening experience out here. Don't get offended if your opponent is constantly talking to other people.
And just because they are on an island, doesn't mean they don't know how to play....

I shipped out my cues but they don't have any ivory, so no help there.
I wouldn't bring out anything extremely expensive....

Mexico?

San Juan is Puerto Rico. That is the United States. Puerto Ricans are as American as apple pie.

I have taken my old Joss there...but I wouldn't anymore.

Last time I was there was around 2010.

They are in the midst of serious economic problems and crime is rampant. Be careful. Best if you can hook up with a trusted contact to go around with. Some areas, bars, etc can be pretty rough.

I was just in San Juan PR and there wasn't much pool. I saw one place along the beach drive that said they had tables and it only had two bar boxes. Fortunately they sold cigars next door so the walk back to the Hilton was very relaxing. If you're talking about San Juan, Mexico, well, good luck..
