7 out of the final 8 are veterns of the San Miguel Asian 9 Ball Tour. After seeing these and their compatriots at this year's WC, it's hard to dispute where the world's best players are.
Man, these guys are good!

True but they are probably not quite as dominant as those numbers show. Home field is a big advantage- even in pool.

If it were held in Germany, you'd probably have 3 or four Euro's in there.

Still Taiwan and Phillipines #'s 1 and 2 and it would be hard to say which order. JMHO

Home court advantage obviously did not work for the Filipino big guns (Reyes, Busta, Orcullo, Manalo and Pagulayan). In fact, it is more of a disadvantage because they are too pressured to win games and there are a lot of distractions. I am quite sure it woulld have been a different story if it was held in another country. Remember the IPT tournaments? Wu even failed to qualify 2 times and was not much of a factor when he eventually did.

Good point-In a Pool Crazy Country like the Phillipines, there is added pressure for the home folks but still there is a certain comfort in many other ways to be in familiar surroundings that positively contribute. Last year, the two finalists were hometowners as you recall. Plus it has been shown to be true in just about any sport you can name that home field is an advantage. Still as you point out, in the Phillipines, it may not be as black and white.

also in the great old US of A. If the home court advantage is a factor here, then we would be winning majority of the major tournaments.
