Sanchez- Runs out World Cup Set

That's the way they are in 3c; they celebrate excellence, irrespective of the hand from which it emanates.

It is also seen in pool, but the sore loser is more frequent.
Agreed ..... mostly. From what I've seen over the years, in pool an opponent smiling out of respect 'while' getting their a** handed to them doesn't happen very often. Me included. LOL This video made ME smile for all the right reasons.

In McGoorty's book he talked about a place that had pool on the first floor and Billiards on the second. He talks about walking through the first floor where things were loud and rowdy - right under a sign that read No Masses, No Gambling, No Cursing a guy played a masse to make the 9-ball and his opponent threw the money on the table and said F--- You!

Then he went upstairs to the Billiards room and it was like a library. The only sound was the click of the balls and the players all seemed like serious men, in shirt and tie.

This isn't a quoted excerpt, just my paraphrasing of a remembrance.

1) Are all 3c tables that fast?
2) How in the heck do 3c guys even see those shots, much less turn around and actually execute them? Wow.

Its interesting, the difference between pool and 3c.

I think the simplicity of the game- 3 balls vs lots more- means it is a more predictable and therefore, more static game.

I'm pretty sure those guys have done that before: all of it!

Some funny stuff.

At 0:30 I think he was trying to get to the side rail for the second rail and go five rails, and he fluked into the shot. Or was he playing this strange pattern? He gave a little wave as if it was a fluke, and that is a really strange way to play that shot.

But then at 2:03 he played a similar shot the short way. I, as a pool player first and a mediocre 3 cushion player, never considered that pattern. I would've tried going 5 rails off the left side of yellow. So maybe the first shot was what he was trying.

Thoughts? Strange game!

There are definitely many shots that provide multiple scoring paths and I'd say at this level, players do what they intend.

When we watch, there are many subtitles we don't see...mainly avoiding unintended kisses, leaving favorable positions for self and unfavorable ones for the opponent.

I don't get how heated would be any drier than cold air. Maybe the heating used to be to keep the slate and ivory from cracking?

I'm guessing that although a dry (cold) enviroment would eventually provide an equally dry cloth. Relying on nature to perform this would result in inconsistency across the table. Whereas active drying will produce a consistent moisture content over the entire playing surface.
