Santa Gus is coming to town....

It's really not that often that a cue like this presents itself, a rare find indeed. Here is a time-capsule Gus...a pristine, unadulterated example of a 6 window cue with double black outer veneers with mahogany, wood bushka ring above wrap, stitching at joint, original Fellini case. Does it get better? Yes, it does. Two absolute monster shafts @ 13.5mm and 4.3oz each, one appears to have been chalked and played with for an hour or two and the other is unplayed. This cue was put up by the owner, untouched for years. If anyone is looking for a killer all-original vintage Gus Szamboti for their collection, this is "the one". Interested parties feel free to contact me for details.

what a beauty sean....i love the fellini just as much as i do the szam....two sweet peas in a pod......

This cue is gorgeous. Mid 70's Gus, George is gone and he is the predominate master cuemaker, possibly in the world at this time. That is one thing to think about, the other, is it's all original in probably 95% condition.
To find them like this, unplayed is really difficult. If there was a PSA grade for this cue, it would be a 9.5 or better. People don't understand the significance in condition and judging values based on the condition.

I am a pro-refinisher if the cue warrants the refinish. But I have a line that I do not cross. I have seen all original cues in 90%+ or better condition f*cked with, because of the buyers vanity. This is the number one mistake I see with all original cues. They are only all original once, period. There is a line that must be respected with cues in regards to their original state.

The cue in my attachment is all original. Look at it, IT needs to be refinished. No collector I know would want this cue in this condition, those who would want it, will want it cheap.
So what do you do? You send it out and get it prettied up because this cue, IMHO is a 300 dollar cue in this condition.

So how rare are all original Gus cues? Since his cues were made to be players, and no one back then really committed cues to be closet queens, I would be surprised if no more than 5-10 cues exist of this time period, in this condition.
Enjoy the Palmer pics...

So true, Joe. Think about it....very very few have NEVER BEEN TOUCHED. What an opportunity here for a classic cue enthusiast!

Gus Szamboti

All Original by the Master Szamboti! Love it, and cool double black veneer.
Someone is going to get a real treasure.
Thank you for showing Sean. Happy Holidays 😃

I don't know what to say

Wow what a lovely and rare find. The cue probably has a lacquer finish. Martin

Thanks everyone for all the nice comments.

JimmyRayK, you can say, "I'll take it!" :)

No, not Stanley's cue, Nick.

Somebody told me one of Santa's elves likes brazilian rosewood in his Gus.......

The playability would be off the charts with either
of the two. I'd be reluctant to put any miles on
that 1st Gus, but I'd play the hell out of that 2nd
one.

These cues are just too sweet Sean, awesome.
