Sapele Question

I'm thinking of having a wrapless cue made using a sapele handle. A cue maker told me that sapele has a "tendency to crack easily" and could "possibly warp". Should I reconsider using sapele for the handle?

I've made a couple of cues with Sapele handles. I do core almost all of my cues though.

Darrin Hill makes the nicest wrapless cues that I have ever seen, and has done at least two in sapele recently. Here is one of them:
http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=71293&highlight=hill ask it's owner how he likes it...

My buddy has the other sapele cue that he did, which is much fancier, but I don't have pics. Maybe Darrin has some pictures of it that you can see.

See other examples of Hills Cues at: http://www.hillscues.com/
Reach Darrin by HillsCues on this site, or by the contact info on his web site and tell him that I sent you.
