Sardo racking devices

Here's a different perspective. I have one and it works as advertised on my home table. It's as easy for 9 ball racking as it is for 15 ball racking. Ackward for 7 ball racking.

A friend of mine has a home table too and when he put new cloth on it, I brought my Sardo over and we set up his table as per instructions. Then we put two vertical lines on his triangle rack and two matching marks on the cloth - pretty much the same system that Sardo usesfor alignment. He still gets a perfect rack everytime with his triangle and it has been at least two years since we set it up.

I was thinking about making an outline of a quality wood rack on the cloth for straight pool purposes. If I do this on new cloth, can I get the same results out of a nice wood rack as I could with a Sardo? Anyone try this approach?

I don't think so. We bought a Sardo rack for a new outdoor table and love the rack. It has two sets of large plastic pins that push in and then down on the ball. You load the balls into the positioned rack. Then as you push down on the wing like handles the first set of spring loaded pins contact the outer edge of the outside balls compressing them together first. As you continue pressing down the second set of spring loaded pins contact all balls top dead center pushing strait down. Outstanding racks the first time every time till the beers catch up.
I also play on a bar table in Jersey with the guys who play on a league there. When I first got the Sardo rack, I took it over to the bar to try it out with the expected gasps and comments. The rack worked great and after I sent it south the guys continued to ask for it for weeks. I also have a pride issue with giving a tight rack and use the pressing on the balls while pushing them to the front of the rack technique but can't get close to what the Sardo did. The Sardo rack will have the same problem we all do if the table has a dent at the head ball of the rack from people tapping it in.

We chose not to "prepare" (tap the rack of balls into the surface) the table as the instructions suggest and had no issues with the rack loosening.
If you flip over the Sardo rack you can see that it is set up with two spare pins for inward compression on a nine ball rack too.

i have a chameleon rack, i use it in my local club, it is not a bad rack usually makes the wing ball, always gives a good spread

just my 2 cents
 
Varieties of Sardo racks

Pool Dawg just informed me that the Sardo rack we see in the tournaments on Youtube with the big handles was redesigned so that the price could be lowered. There is now only one version & they offer a 30 day money back guarantee if the customer is not satisfied. They claim that none have ever been returned.
 
I got the new version of the Sardo last year at the Expo. It works great and ensures the rack can't be tilted!....the easiest way to "rack" someone. I also traced the outline of the Sardo on my table for playing 14.1, and drew a line from the spot down to the bottom rail center diamond for a quick refference, and spotting balls.

If more pool rooms would trace the racks and add the center line, there would be MUCH fewer "debates" over the rack.

Yeah, it's the M5000. It came out late last year/early this year.

You have obviously never used a Sardo. At home it is much earier to use the TightRack then it is to use a wooden rack due to the table divets. This is a FACT. With the sardo, you just push the balls in, line up the arrows and tap down. With a wooden rack you load the balls, but it on the spot, then adjust when a ball rolls out, rinse and repeat until you find the part of the table where a ball doesnt move, but happens to not really be on the spot either, usually a bit in front or a bit behind the spot.:rolleyes:

Can tell us anything else about this thing. The German website posted here earlier has some information on it that I can't read. Could someone translate it for us into English?

It appears to be a copy of the Rack-m-Rite. The Rack-m-Right works much better than tapping a rack in place because the ball holes are not the same spacing as a normal rack, they are moved in toward the center to make all the balls lean inwardly.

I've heard that the Sardo used to come with a similar template. You guys that are training your tables for the Sardo, do you use a template or tap them in place in the rack?

Kein Dreieck zum Aufsetzen der Kugeln mehr nötig
no more need off a traingle to rack the balls.
Kugeln laufen beim aufsetzen zu 100% press aneinander
all the balls are touching eachother 100% of the times (i can confirm this.)
Einmal benutzt, hält über Monate
once it has been used, it racks perfectly for over a month (depends on playing time ofc)
Keine Beeinflussung der Kugellaufbahn beim Spielen
no influence on the trajectory of the balls when playing
Für alle Pool- Billard Varianten
