Winter has set in, golf courses in the northern USA are closed.. What are your golf buddies doing today? Watching tv, playing checkers, or listening to the wife as she reads the morning paper to him?... "Dear, look at all these last minute shopping bargains."
Save your buddies! They only get out, if or when, they meet other guys somewhere for a cup of coffee. They'll probably suffer a true case of cabin fever for the rest of the long hard winter. Do you own a pool table? Give 'em a call and you can make their day.
Most games don't allow for more than 2 players unless you partner up for a team. There is a game for multiple players where each player pockets balls independently. Each player makes balls for points, betting against his golfing buddies, just like on the course.
You can pocket any ball when you approach the table. Let's assume only 5 balls remain on the table... The 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11. You can pocket any ball of choice. Your next ball must be higher. If the 3 is your 1st ball, your next ball can be any of the 4 balls remaining.
Now it gets interesting... Let's assume you made the 7 as your first ball. On your second shot you must contact any Higher ball... in this case, it would only be the 9 or 11... But what happens if the 11 was the pocketed ball. There's no ball on the table higher than the 11.
After the... Highest ball on the table pockets, you must contact the... Lowest ball the table.
If the lowest ball pockets, you can pocket any ball on your next shot... Let's do a scenario of how the game plays.
#_ 3,5,7,9,11 balls are on the table and you're the incoming player.
If you pocket the 3. You can pocket any higher number ball next.
#_ 3,5,7,9,11 on table. All incoming players can pocket any ball.
If you pocket the 7, your next ball is any ball higher than the 7.. But not the 3 or 5
#_ 3,5,7,9,11 on table
If you pocket the 5, and the 9 falls. The 9 was the highest ball that was pocketed.
Pocket the 11 next (the highest on table) and get shape on the 3 (the lowest ball)
#_ 3,5,11 are remaining on the table. You have 3 choices.
Pocket the 3, then either ball.. Or Pocket the 5, then the 11.. Or Pocket the 11, then the 3
All 15 balls are racked. The 15 is placed in center. The 1 in front. The 2 and 3 on corners.
Knowing where the highest and lowest balls are located.... at all times.... is a key thought.
